Nautical & Nice: Bold, Beautiful, Playful & Fierce

Nothing screams summertime more than our nautical trend. The stripes and bold colors of red and blue make for a summer hit, and pop against any neutral color like black, tan or white.  This is one of my favorites because it's an easy trend for anyone to pull off.

When I think of nautical, the romantic in me always brings up an image of the rugged and handsome Ernest Hemingway.  He loved the sea and fishing, and a quote from one of his famous books, The Old Man and The Sea, describes his vision of the sea:

"...she is kind and very beautiful. But she can be so cruel and it comes so suddenly and such birds that fly, dipping and hunting, with their small sad voices are made too delicately for the sea."

In this quote, Hemingway describes the sea as a woman, beautiful and kind, yet fierce and strong.  A nautical look can play on bold, beautiful, playful, and fierce, making it versatile and appealing for everyone - just like the sea Hemingway describes!
