NEUTRAL ELEGANCE: The All Year Trend

In my experience I have learned that neutral accessories are a year round staple, and neutral jewelry with a little sparkle, shimmer or jewels adds a hint of elegance to a piece making it a perfect accessory to add to just about any outfit.

A neutral elegance trend can be worn by anyone, it's as simple as finding your light grey bejeweled necklace and pairing it with your burgundy button-up. Playing down the bold color of the blouse, while adding a little edge with the shine and shape of the jewels.
When I think of neutral elegance, my sister, Karen is at the top of my list.  She wears the layers of soft beige's and whites with inspirational ease.  Every time we travel together (and I am always waiting on her somewhere) her entrance is memorable and beautiful.  She is always ready to impress, but never unapproachable.  She combines multiple neutral tone pieces and  uses juxtaposition by pairing the neutral tones with multiple textures and materials. The image of her gold and diamond Chopard necklace, paired with a wood medallion bison (symbolizing strength) is the image I can imagine of her and her style of neutral elegance.
My sister Karen in the Bison necklace I mentioned above.
Her base is usually a pair of neutral white jeans, she broke the white jean rule
a long time ago and it totally works with her neutral elegance style!

The greatest thing about a neutral elegance trend is that it can apply to so many looks and styles, while still illustrating the same neutral elegance idea. You can layer neutral accessories on neutral outfits, like my sister, breaking it up with varying textures and styles, or you can tone down bold or bright colors with your neutral elegance pieces also.
At the end of the day, you can never be disappointed with having neutral elegant pieces in your collection, and you can be sure to find these pieces all year long at lou lou! Connect with your style and love! (That's what Karen does, and it works!!)

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SUNGLASSES FOR YOUR FACE

A GUIDE FROM MICHAEL STARS - The sunglasses size should be in proportion with the face size. This means that smaller glasses are better for smaller faces; larger sunglasses for larger faces. The frame size should contrast with, that is, be the opposite of, the shape of the face. These tips should not be taken as rules, but they can certainly help you to choose your right frame.
*Michael Stars sunglasses are sold at lou lou Clothing in Dupont Circle

OVAL FACE
Almost any style works for oval face.
Experiment with the latest looks, such as wraparounds or shields. Square shaped frames with gently rounded edges and higher temples also look good on an oval face.
  FRAME SUGGESTIONS: Any frame shape

ROUND FACE
Frames should make the face appear longer and thinner. In general, look for frames equal to or slightly wider than the broadest part of the face.  Minimize the curves and add definition with soft, angular, rectangular styles or double brow styles.  Higher temples will create a longer profile.  Sunglasses with brow bars also pull the eye upward, making the face appear longer.
FRAME SUGGESTIONS: Wider frames with angular or rectangular styles

DIAMOND SHAPE
This face shape has wide or high cheekbones with a narrow forehead and chin.  Oval sunglasses will soften the contour of the face, although softly curved square frames will work as well.  Make sure the styles are no wider than the top of the cheekbones.
FRAME SUGGESTIONS: Oval | Square | Rimless

SQUARE SHAPE
This face shape consists of a strong jawline, a broad forehead and wide cheekbones.  Reduce the angles with soft, curvy styles that will give the face some definition such as cat-eye styles.  The classic ovals also works well for this face shape.
FRAME SUGGESTIONS: Oval | Round | Cat Eyes

OBLONG SHAPE
Widen and shorten the face with eyeglass styles that do not extend beyond the widest part of the face.  Round or square shapes will look great on this face.  Frames with short horizontal and long vertical lines also work.  Decorative or contrasting temples add width to the face.
FRAME SUGGESTIONS: Round | Square

TRIANGLE SHAPE
This face has a narrow jaw and a wide forehead.  Soften the lower portion of the face by accenting the eye area.  Styles such as cat-eyes should angle outward at the top corner and be wide enough to balance the jawline.  You can also try metal frames with rimless bottoms.
FRAME SUGGESTIONS: Frames with a Straight Topline | Cat Eyes

SUNGLASSES: The necessary accessory!

I realized today in the pickup line at my children's school why sunglasses are our focus at the moment.  I couldn't  see a thing but was soooo happy to be looking straight into the big, warm sun that is going to melt away this winter weather. I reached for my sunglasses but was too late, my beautiful, blond, 11 year old daughter beat me to them. She then turned up the radio so loud I couldn't ask for them back…lucky for her it was my favorite song, Passenger’s, “Let Her Go”!  And I did.

Extremely  fashionable sunglasses, great quality, and a great price. That was my goal when looking for a sunglasses company. Lucky for me (and you) I found AJ Morgan, a company that was a perfect fit for lou lou! Their designer and I had similar visions when starting our companies. His designs are influenced by travels and many styles.
Sunglasses are by no means NEW to the world of fashion... but sometimes they are the after thought.  People think of sunglasses as the necessary accessory: to keep the sun out of your eyes, but there is something very fashion forward about the right pair of sunglasses. I like to think of sunglasses as the necessary accessory: practical AND fashionable!
We have a brand new collection of AJ Morgan sunglasses on the web and in our shops. My favorite pair right now is the 2 bar aviator in rosegold. A classic with a twist can never go wrong! The rose gold is so soft and compliments many skin tones. Check our our collection here!
